A momentous day: we got a temporary occupancy permit! That means we can move all the stuff from the five storage lockers to the house, we just can't live there. Moey is organizing her friends and we hope to do the move this weekend. Watch this space!
The kitchen is almost finished:
Glen, the stone mason, started laying the stone earlier this week. Then, along came the snow and rain. Once again, he has to pause in this job. But here he is, starting:
I took this picture about ten days ago. See that the siding is on and the lights are up. We are just lacking the deck railings, the white stuff around the columns, and the Bose speakers!

Happy St. Patrick's Day, a day early! The crew started the outside window/door trimming and the siding:
The photo was taken a couple of hours before another major snow storm hit...sob...I decided to stay in town with my Mom so that I can work on my glass projects tomorrow. This weather sucks.

We are getting there...
The fireplace surround was grouted, and the mantle installed:
The deck has all its planking, just awaiting the railings. The kitchen cabinets are installed, awaiting the countertops. Here are Brent and Adam standing in the refrigerator's slot:
Here's another view of the kitchen, as it is today:
They tell me that they hope to put the siding on this weekend...yikes!

Marti Gras Weekend, 2/28-3/2/14
Skip and Linda came for the weekend, to celebrate her birthday (Friday) and cook a fabulous Nawlins dinner (Saturday). The second thing Skip did was walk into construction scaffolding (at Buffy's house, not mine). Thank goodness we have a doctor in the compound (although she is a vet); Moey tended to Skip's three deep gashes:
The rest of Friday evening went off without a hitch, celebrating Linda's birthday with a steak dinner (cooked by Fred). Someone decided (must have been Buffy) that we needed to dress up on Saturday because it was Mardi Gras and Skip and Linda were cooking a fabulous Nawlins dinner. Here are a few of the culprits:And back to the house, here are a couple of posed photos. First, in front of the fireplace:
The pantry, with its shelving:And finally, my closet and me pointing to the shelf for he Bose components:
Today, Monday, is a snow day. The snow started about midnight and is still coming down at 2 pm.
